"Freewrite Exercises" Dialogue

What is a freewrite?
A freewrite is an exercise that is used to practice good writing. It's whatever comes to your mind no matter if its just a feeling. Its a place that you can express and write without any rules or corrections. Sometimes a freewrite can be confuse as useless writing and pointless. But truly it's a work of art, a masterpiece made from scratch and arranged for perfection. It's where all you words and feelings flow out and are made into words that fill your paper.

What's surprising is that after you finish writing you can look over your work and see what words or passages had the most energy or strength. It's also interesting that the more you careless, meaning not giving full attention, focus, or energy in our free write leads to put more attention, focus, and energy into what you actually write. Sometimes we don't even know that we are improving our writing by simply writing down jibberish. Honestly this is a great way to fix our errors.

  1. I love how you talked about the freewriting showing where you put the most energy and feeling into it. That's what I love about freewriting. I also like how you called it a work of art, I hadn't quite thought of it that way before.

  2. Talking about art I do remember my cousin who is a teacher, was talking about the art exercise that she gives to her new students. It was similar to freewriting, she lets her student to draw whatever they want as she wants her students to express their creativity and later on forge it into someting meaningful. I feel same thing about freewriting.

Its true! I like that part the most of your assignment. Just that sentence. Its amazing how not caring what your freewrite sounds like or looks like makes you better later on. Making mistake after mistake and reading it and correcting yourself later on.

  4. I really like how you compared this method of writing as a work of art. After reading that and taking a moment to think about it, it really makes sense how it can be a work of art. It's a work of art in progress where eventually it will help you achieve a masterpiece. A one of a kind Picaso but in writing :-)
